#CDC Coors Distributing Company (CDC) is one of the nation’s leading beer distributors based out of Denver, CO. We are the critical link between our brewery suppliers that produce the beer and the retail outlets where they are sold, as well as the restaurants and bars where they are consumed. We were founded in 1971 and became a MillerCoors LLC in 2008 as part of the joint venture between Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company, and we remain the only company owned distributor for Molson Coors Beverage Company. Major brand acquisitions occurred in January of 2010 making Coors Distributing Company one of the top 25 largest beer distributors in the country with over 30 suppliers, roughly 14 million cases per year, and nearly 400 employees.
In the role of Category Specialist working in Denver, CO you will be responsible for executing all steps outlined in the reset process for CDC’s Independent and Chain customers. The Category Specialist will sell in and provide Independent retailers with schematic organization that results in an improved profitable cooler layout aligned with CDC standards and objectives. The Specialist will physically execute the reset including assembly/disassembly of the cold box and re-aligning back stock.
This position reports to the Category Manager.
The Responsibilities:
  • Identifying optimal store layout and designs, product flows, and SKU locations to build the store reset with the store’s needs in mind and updating standards and maintaining new distribution options.
  • Capturing data and measuring coolers to optimize space and produce images at retail (scanning the boxes and developing the set schematic).
  • Consulting with retailers and evaluating opportunities in the cold box.
  • Developing professional and impactful category management presentations for assigned retail accounts.
  • Synthesizing channel intelligence and analytical insights into retail account-specific, fact-based presentations.
  • Creating and delivering data-based business recommendations based on Nielsen, IRI, and/or VIP reporting, and other data sources.
  • Conducting analyses before, during, and after reset execution, and providing quantification of results.
  • Utilize and fill out weekly pre-planners/calendars and update reset tracker spreadsheet with results from each reset.
  • Performing communication roll-ups to Chain Managers. Providing a detailed analysis and debrief by communicating opportunities, process gaps, deviations, and other relevant information.
  • Leading set/reset designs for by initiating contact, selling the value of the reset and value proposition, identifying opportunities, and converting into a sell strategy.
  • Driving volume and profit through increased distribution and shelf space aligned to CDC/Supplier standards.
  • Facilitating knowledge sharing sessions of category standards by suppliers, industry trends to other relevant stakeholders.

The Other Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or related field is preferred.
  • Position requires 1-3 years of Consumer-packaged Goods or Food and Beverage key account management.
  • Knowledge of 3-tier distribution system and/or consumer goods is desirable.
  • Extensive category management orientation and application.
  • Proficiency in running and interpreting syndicated data.
  • Strong organizational, written/oral communication skills.
  • Strong software skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, and Space Planning Plus
  • Strong consumer presentation and key account sales skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including early mornings and some weekends.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and MVR must fall within the Molson Coors Pre-Employment Background Screening Guidelines.

Working Conditions:
  • Position requires presence in the refrigerated cooler.
  • Position requires face to face contact with customers in the market.
  • This position requires utilizing employee’s personal vehicle, which must be capable of carrying a two-wheeler; the company will reimburse mileage.
  • Periodic physical requirements of lifting, pulling and pushing up to 30 lbs. up to 1,000 times per day.
