We are currently seeking a part time disability Services Classroom Support Assistant who will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement, and who will provide classroom assistance to students with disabilities in order to enhance their learning experience and help them to fulfill their academic potential.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Required: One year of college coursework.
Preferred: Associate’s Degree
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Preferred: One (1) year of experience working in a school or college setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to record notes quickly and accurately.
- Must have legible writing.
- Proficient typing skills as well as good spelling and grammar.
- Ability to deal with students and staff in a professional manner.
- Ability to handle stress and remain calm.
- Ability to work independently and as team member.
- Communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Commitment to create and maintain a warm and welcoming office and campus environment.
- Commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive information at all times.
- Knowledge of college and department policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations.
- Record accurate and detailed notes on content delivered in lectures or other oral presentations; exam scribe/reader.
- Assist student with educational support requirements that the student cannot complete independently.
- Facilitate the student’s participation in a course of study but will not assist with or complete the work associated with that course.
- Arrive early and prepared for sessions with the student.
- Required to interact with all levels of Amarillo College personnel, community, and management.
- Must maintain a commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive information.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with all college, state and local policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Secure and safeguard all property, equipment, and training material including credit cards (if applicable) issued by Amarillo College.
- Adhere to the Amarillo College Travel Policy guidelines as written.
- Participate in professional learning and development as required under state or local contractual agreements and/or Amarillo College.
- Complete all work-related tasks in a neat, orderly and timely manner.
- Conduct self with professionalism and respect toward others.
- Exhibit professional behavior while assisting with the needs of students, faculty, staff, visitors, and co-workers.
- Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and or maneuver teaching and class supplies as needed.
Work Conditions: Must be willing to work a variety of hours including evening, weekend or holidays if needed. Work 19 hours or as scheduled.
Work Environment: This position works in a classroom or lab environment.
Travel Expectations: Any travel essential for this position requires the employee to adhere to the Amarillo College Travel policy as written.
Salary: Aligned with the current published salary scale for the represented position grade, commensurate with experience.
