Job descriptionRichard Bland College (RBC) of the College of William & Mary is seeking a part-time Custodian to work provide for the ongoing care and continuing function of facilities and to aid in providing a clean and safe learning and working environment.
The ideal candidate will perform custodial work to ensure cleanliness of facilities and grounds; clean hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, and other facilities on a scheduled basis; strip and wax floors. This position will also assist staff in moving furniture and equipment; Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas neat and clean; identify and report items in buildings that needs repair/physical damage to the Director of Property Management; The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, not to exceed 29 hours per week. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of custodial duties and responsibilities; Knowledge of cleaning procedures; experience operating standard cleaning equipment and materials; ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff; ability to perform work that requires medium to heavy physical effort; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to work in team environment and perform work in a safe and efficient manner; effectively operate a variety of cleaning tools and equipment. Physical requirements of this job include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to move a wide variety of items from one place to another, including carts and supplies; utilize foresight, concentration, and basic mathematical skills; ability to work and stand for long periods of time in performing job assignments, with occasional outdoor work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications A High School diploma or equivalent; knowledge in the property management, housing and facilities is preferred.
