The YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a cause-driven specialist to lead Early Learning program enhancement initiatives across the association. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Early Learning, this role will oversee the necessary elements of providing every Early Learning Academy with the tools necessary to ensure each student receives an enriching Early Learning experience, including but not limited to curriculum support, professional development, enrichment programming, and family engagement, partnering with other Y leaders and community leaders to support the overall social-emotional health of the child, their family, and the community at large.

This leader will primarily support the YMCA of Southwest Florida’s Early Learning Academy staff with professional development, curriculum development and delivery direction support, and providing training/mentoring opportunities as needed in order to ensure that teachers are empowered to create a stimulating environment for all young children to play and learn while developing the physical, verbal, social, and emotional skills they’ll need to be successful in school and later in life.

This position will also be responsible for oversight of Early Learning enrichment programming and parent education programming, including program development and implementation.


  • Collaborate with Teaching Team in the comprehensive growth of their professional practice, contributing to their development by providing curriculum and quality control support to the team
  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of curriculum practices as well as current Early Childhood Education research.
  • As needed, develop curriculum and teaching processes for the team.
  • As needed, develop, and collaborate with teaching teams on interventions for classrooms or individuals that are not tracking within an appropriate range.
  • Support Early Learning teaching staff in their professional growth as a CDA Advisor
  • Provide support to staff and families around School Readiness programs and processes.
  • Developing and implementing orientation training process for all new-hire teaching staff
  • Providing continuous, extensive training and mentoring experiences to the teaching team following best coaching practices.
  • Support Administrative teams and teaching staff with orientation to and implementation of Cognitive Toybox assessment tools.
  • Ensure timely completion of ASQ and VPK Assessments.
  • Maintain NAEYC Standards.
  • Regularly conducting formal and informal observation of classroom environments and provide feedback to teaching team & leadership, with appreciation for the many diverse abilities of the professional team.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, oversight, and direction regarding operations, finances, program management and long-range planning, continuous improvement, and efficiency to the YMCA’s Early Learning enrichment programming initiative across the association
  • Oversee program development
  • Assist Administration with program implementation
  • Continuously review and evaluate program initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Become a voice in communities served; develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with community businesses and outside organizations aligned with program goals.
  • Lead the Unite Us program for the association, connecting families with programs and services in their community.
  • Develop, implement, and engage YMCA families and outside community members in Parent Education programming around school readiness and other topics.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings, as well as workdays throughout the year as scheduled.
  • Participate as a Y Leader in YUSA and other association events and initiatives as applicable to Child Care locations.
  • Support the program goals of the YMCA as a whole and the Early Learning Academies in particular
  • Adhere to YMCA policy and procedures; respond to emergency situations within the scope of training.

The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Strong PC and database management skills with the ability to perform data entry duties and learn new software programs and processes quickly.
  • Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Knowledge of DCF systems, processes, and policies.


  • 5 years’ experience with management/staff leadership in the Early Learning field
  • Experience working with children with special needs
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Learning, Education and/or related field
  • CDA Advisor Credential or willingness to complete within 90 days of hire
  • Infant/child CPR & First Aid
  • Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training
  • Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Successfully complete DCF background screening requirements as well as meet the association policies on background screening.
  • Additional training classes as recommended.
