JOBThe Health Educator will be responsible for implementing the health education programs and responsible for medically accurate curriculum development. The position will also implement health education and promotion activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide health and wellness workshops and evaluation education. Plan and implement programs and treatments specifically designed to address client s needsDevelop, design, present recommend, and disseminate culturally approved health education information and materials. Identifies education objectives for assigned community and grant focused health problems. Attend as a team member, meetings, trainings, and conferences to ensure up-to-date policy, regulations, and systems of care principles standards are in place.Conduct internal health education training in technology and develops policies and procedures to ensure program compliance with tribal and grant expectations.Maintain and update program and youth files; review formats for new health education and documents for compliance with operational policies and procedures.Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Principles, methods and techniques of public community health education;Selection and use of audio-visual materials for educational programs;Current community health problemsMethods and instruments used in program evaluationTechniques of print and visual aids preparationReport preparation techniques;Customer service principles;Staff training principles;English language, grammar, and punctuation;Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations;Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.Skills and Abilities: Organizing and presenting health education programs;Prioritize, assign work, and work independently;Developing marketing and educational materialsUsing audio-visual materials in educational programsMaintain records and prepare reports;Apply and explain applicable laws pertaining to privacy and online privacy strategies;Identifying community health problems.Prepare and proofread a variety of reports and/or documentation;Exercise judgment and discretion;Compile data and information;Provide customer service;Public speaking and presentation;Facilitate strategic, long-range planning activities;Good communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members, and the public. Have ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Master's Degree in health education, psychology, marketing, public administration, health, or business administration field related to assignment, or college, and Certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician preferred but not required, bilingual is preferred but not required.Experience with Native American Populations is preferredExperience with compliance training preferred.Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain the Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
