OutRight Action International works at global, regional and national levels to eradicate the persecution, inequality and violence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) people around the world. With staff in over 10 countries and headquarters in New York, OutRight builds capacity of LGBTIQ movements, documents human rights violations, advocates for inclusion and equality, and holds leaders accountable for protecting the rights of LGBTIQ people everywhere. OutRight has recognized consultative status at the United Nations.


OutRight currently seeks a Human Resources Coordinator, reporting to the Head of Operations. The Human Resources Coordinator serves as an integral part of the operations team, running point on the day-to-day people functionality of a global organization. The selected candidate will be based in our New York City office.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with and report to the Head of Operations on all HR endeavors, including researching and engaging experts on employment setups for staff in and out of the United States;
  • Support Head of Operations and senior leadership in educating employees on and enforcing OutRight policies, respond to internal and external HR-related inquiries and provide assistance;
  • Support recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, disseminating calls, scheduling, interviewing, verifying references, and tracking of new possible candidates in HRIS (currently BambooHR);
  • Coordinate new-hire procedures, including organizing employee orientation, creating new employee files, administering employee handbooks, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is properly filled out and submitted to appropriate persons, as well as supporting the execution of all employee offboarding and termination procedures, including advising employees on their rights and any benefits they are entitled to;
  • Organize, maintain and update employee HRIS information and ensure all employee records are filed correctly and kept confidential;
  • Coordinate benefits administration and plans, including health/dental, retirement, Workers Comp, etc.;
  • Make sure all health and safety regulations are followed, and all staff trainings are conducted to ensure all compliance, and compile and present any new or additional training materials to employees;
  • Prepare materials and help organize employee performance reviews
  • Conduct and help ensure payroll processes are accurate
  • Support all aspects of organizational culture and by helping foster positive employee relations globally and working to solve any employee issues that surface
  • Under the leadership of the Head of Operation, be a vital source of human resources information, answering any questions employees may have
  • Provide administrative support, including database maintenance, record keeping and filing.
  • Support any other projects the Head of Operations assigns

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience (2-4 years) in human resources, administration, employment operations, or an HR-adjacent role
  • An understanding and commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) human rights outside the United States
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices (compliance, benefits, etc.), and systems, as well as a willingness to learn about different employment contexts in various environments
  • Extremely organized and able to juggle multiple priorities, projects and tasks
  • Familiarity and experience recruiting for various roles, including an understanding of recruitment strategies, tools and platforms
  • Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems (e.g. BambooHR) as well as strong administrative knowledge about other office technologies (GSuite, Zoom, timekeeping,etc.)
  • Committed to an evolving understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion in the global context
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, active listening and an ability to handle situations and data with confidentiality
  • Ability to legally work in our New York City office
  • Commitment to the ongoing study of political change, cultural norms, and movement building. be flexible and passionate about achieving change through the use of UN-mechanisms
