Job description
The Material Expeditor/Logistics Specialist performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and receiving incoming shipments. In performing day-to-day, routine tasks, this worker follows established guidelines. The primary function of this position is to provide on-site processing of material requisition, receipt, storage, issue, and inventory management as required to support operation and maintenance of government and company owned assets.
- In handling unusual non-routine problems, this worker receives specific guidance from supervisor or other officials.
- Shipping duties typically involve the following: verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; insuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.
- Receiving duties typically involve the following: verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.
- In addition, the candidate will compile, verify, update and maintain, complete, accurate configuration data for each part assembly, and/or component installed in accordance with established government/company procedures.
- Develop written instructions, procedures, technical reports/documentation and spreadsheets.
- Submit and update Configuration Overhaul Planning (COP), and Installation (INSTALL) & Maintenance (MAINT) work-files for various systems.
- Review, update, and maintain technical data and logistics documentation in accordance with DoD/SPAWAR approved policies, processes and guidelines.
- Provide a monthly Technical Data and Logistics Documentation Support report to customer.
- Participate in the review of Engineering Change Order (ECO), Software Delivery (SWD) documentation.
- Develop, review and submit Ship Change Documents. Continue to follow up the status of SCDs at each of the review and approval cycle until final approval.
- Participate in the review of Enterprise Change Request (ECR), Ship Change Documents, and Shore upgrades
- Provide weekly status updates of Ship Change Documents.
- Attend Logistics meetings, participate in reviews and/or analysis of inventory and configuration management data, and provide recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
- Provide provisioning updates for hardware and software changes.
- Build and maintain spreadsheets.
- Inspect received material to verify NSN/part number, nomenclature, type, correct quantity, to ascertain compliance with contract, purchase agreement and stock catalogs.
- Must already possess and be able to maintain, at minimum a SECRET security clearance.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- PMS Level 1 certification is a plus.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Will be required to obtain a certification to drive forklift.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
