SUMMARY: Responsible for leading the daily management of a large team of both internal and external employees. This will include the training and mentoring of new and existing team members, issue resolution, performance monitoring and daily staffing needs. Responsible for assigning the workload for the team, ensuring all work is complete and assisting where needed when staffing requires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.)

  • Lead the team in all daily functions and responsibilities ensuring that high performance standards are maintained
  • Monitor the team workload/alignment to ensure productivity and performance goals can be achieved
  • Regularly review KPI performance to identify opportunities and develop strategies for improvement
  • Lead team meetings to review processes, KPIs and system issues, as well as gathering team feedback and providing necessary group training
  • Identify and report system issues through the proper channels
  • Regularly review current processes, identifying and making recommendations for improvements
  • Resolve escalated customer/supplier complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports and making necessary recommendations to management
  • Involvement in employee management (including reviews, evaluations, and disciplinary actions)
  • Assist Purchasing Manager with the hiring process for all new team members
  • Take the lead for on-boarding, training, and mentoring new employees
  • Scheduling, timecard, and PTO management
  • Manage the ongoing mentoring and training of each team member, to help guide them through their career development
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Back-up to the team as necessary

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 1-2 years of purchasing experience preferred
