Description: The mission of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), GEOINT, Research and Technology (R&T) is to advance the future Geospatial Intelligence architecture through technology development. Candidate will provide engineering services to the US Government, complete analysis and studies to support development of advanced radar systems Our Client is seeking a highly motivated subject matter expert in the area of advance radar misson electronics, payload development, analysis and modeling to support the R&T program office. The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in engineering, physics, or imaging science/remote sensing. Key skills include a superior knowledge of small and large satellite systems requirements, design, data processing and algorithm performance modeling and simulation. Services provided include, but are not limited to:- Evaluate/verify technical claims of Government contractors developing advanced hardware and processing methods to support research and development of advanced GEOINT systems.
- Benchmark evaluations of special algorithms and capabilities
- Provide quantitative analysis that demonstrates value of implementing enhanced algorithms to provide new capabilities
- Create and deliver simulation software code in support of above as directed by the Government
- Provide technical analysis in the field of advanced aperture technologies that reduce size, weight, power and cost (SWAP-C) and/or enhances performance for GEOINT systems
- Provide technical analysis in the field of digital system engineering concepts for GEOINT systems
- Support development and/or evaluation of Contractor SOWs, proposals, test plans and procedures, and reports
- Provide support to Government contractors executing programs to achieve above capabilities - may include travel to developing contractors
Minimum Qualifications: BS degree in engineering, physics, imaging science / remote sensing or related technical discipline 25+ years' experience with space system research, development, modeling and simulation Satellite development experience with low or high earth systems 15+ years' experience with reducing SWAP-C for GEOINT systems Major space system performance experience Domain expertise in GEOINT space systems Ability to work in fast paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills Specific knowledge of the NRO and its processes Exposure to the system design trade process, assessing system design options, analyzing mission requirements, monitoring development and test, conops development, and tracking of system performance Demonstrated experience in interacting with developing contractors, actively participating in development contractor design reviews, evaluating technical proposals, documents and designs, development and/or review of test plans and procedures, and writing correspondence or white papers Desired Qualifications: MS/PhD in engineering physics, imaging science / remote sensing or related technical discipline 30+ years' experience with space systems research, development, modeling and simulation 20+ years' experience with reducing SWAP-C for GEOINT systems Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills Extensive satellite development experience with low or high earth systems Extensive exposure to the system design trade process, assessing system design options, analyzing mission requirements, monitoring development and test, conops development, and tracking of system performance Expert in interacting with developing contractors, actively participating in development contractor design reviews, evaluating technical proposals, documents and designs, development and/or review of test plans and procedures, and writing correspondence or white papers
