POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grant Funded Teen Experience Director will oversee all teen experiences in and out of the YMCA and will develop, organize, and implement high quality Teen programs and experiences for the YMCA and community with a culturally aware, DEI lens. They will provide leadership, guidance and supervision, and hands on instruction to staff employed in those areas and will work with other members of the senior leadership team, YMCA staff, volunteers, and members to deliver high quality service and programs to members and guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Builds personal, culturally aware, and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responds to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner.

2. Builds effective, culturally aware, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA using a DEI lens

3. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. Measures progress against strategic goals and ensures continuous improvement.

4. Complying with all NHEYP Grant expectations and reporting requirements.

5. Directs and supervises teen program activities and staff to meet YMCA objectives. Expand Teen programs within the community in accordance with strategic operating plans and NHEYP Grant.

6. Works with Marketing on developing and distributing program schedules, program information and over sees program registration.

7. Assists in the development, monitoring, and the teen department budget. Assesses and recommends budgeting programs need to the senior program Director. Works to build revenue streams that will sustain the position beyond the 1.5-year life of the funding grant.

8. Develops collaborative relationships with the community youth serving institution, including schools, youth agencies, parks and recreation and service clubs.

9. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

10. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in Programs.

11. Provides direct instruction of classes and programs as scheduled or otherwise needed, including, but not limited to: Teen Climb, Teen Sports Programs, Middle/High School Programs, Teen Leader Corps, Teen Night Out, and summer and Vacation Programs.

12. Helps to develop lesson plans and curriculum guidelines for new and existing programs.

13. Participates in opportunities for professional advancement and growth, including programs within the YMCA to develop leadership competencies.

14. Maintains and orders all equipment to meet the needs of members and programs.

15. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

16. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Three to Four years related experience preferred with working Teens

2. Typical requirements within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

3. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

4. Experience working with diverse people preferred.
