WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Rochester Hills office, you will provide Automotive product validation engineering services to develop Gates electric water pumps and electric motor products.
- This is an exciting opportunity because you will work with the test lab and the development team to validate electric water pumps (EWP) from concept to production.
- In this role, you will be responsible for directing testing and providing customer support.
- This position will report to the Product Engineering Manager - Electric Water Pumps.
- You will work with Application and Development Engineers to define the Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) to the customer or internal specifications and is responsible for maintaining and updating.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage testing and test equipment open issues.
- Highlight key testing/development issues to the manager weekly and will work with the team to resolve these issues.
- Define and manage test procedures for the electrical water pump and electric motors and related components.
- Work with the team to support DFMEA development.
- Define EWP testing based on customer specifications and requirements.
- Guide test technicians to perform product validation (DV/PV) and development testing.
- Write thorough and comprehensive test reports and maintain an electronic filing system.
- Manage product validation process for EWPs.
- Manage new test equipment definition and be involved in the specification, purchase, and installation of the equipment.
Other (travel, working conditions unusual work schedules):
- Travel is dictated by business conditions but usually will be calling on suppliers, OEM engineers, prospects, or working with customer personnel approximately 10% of the time. Must be able to perform physical elements associated with the job, including inspecting our product in difficult locations, such as OEM labs, model shops, or test sites as required to properly understand and service our OEM customers.
ABOUT YOU
- Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in product testing.
- Willing to learn the product from the testing perspective leading to development opportunities.
- Excited to work in the office with great teammates.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
